SECTION 4 Specialty Coated Fabric -SCFV
What is an SCFV? SCFV, or sublimated coated fabric, is a cut lettering style that uses sublimated yardage as one or more color layer. The sublimated fabric will be a solid color or pattern and may be layered with standard coated fabric.
This style requires a custom color code for any sublimated colors used. These custom colors will factor in the sublimated color and fabric type.
For instance: sublimation color NOR (neon orange) on motionflex white (FWH) is given the custom color code NOW.
Yardage will be printed of your sublimated color, then pressed into fabric. Once the fabric is complete it will be laser cut like any other cut lettering.
Request any new custom color codes from Mary Bell. The OMS team will have to manually set up your color codes, so be sure to chatter OMS & Item Set Up. Previously request codes can be found on the Custom Lettering SharePoint.
Sublimated Mesh Like sublimated yardage above, SCFVs may also include sublimated mesh. These styles are often paired with laser cutouts in the garment.
Sublimated mesh will always need an outline layer of coated fabric. This outline will sit on top of the sublimated mesh. This provides an anchor for the sublimated mesh to be sewn to the garment.
SCFV-1234 COATED FABRIC FWH
The outline layer should be at least .375” wide.
Note: while it is generally not advised to have a thin outline of coated fabric along the outer edge of lettering, this is an exception to the rule, since these are used on custom garments.
